Key Concepts

1

Asset Type

An Asset Type represents a category or class of equipment, such as Hydraulic Press Type, Aircraft Engine Type, or Assembly Robot Type. Workflows, resources, and jobs are all created and managed under specific Asset Types.

Purpose:

  • Organize similar machines or equipment under one category.

  • Associate predefined workflows and resources with an entire asset type.

  • Simplify management of multiple identical assets.

Example:

  • Asset Type: Aircraft Turbine Type

  • Description: Represents turbine engine models used across different aircraft lines.

2

Asset

An Asset is an individual piece of equipment or machine that belongs to an Asset Type. Assets store unique identifiers, serial numbers, and locations — helping users track performance and maintenance history.

Purpose:

  • Maintain detailed data for each equipment instance.

  • Link jobs and workflows to specific machines.

  • Enable tracking of asset health and service records.

Example:

  • Asset: Aircraft Turbine — HP200 Series

  • Linked Type: Aircraft Turbine Type

  • Location: Hangar Bay C, Assembly Unit 5

3

Workflow

A Workflow is a series of digital instructions used to perform a task — such as equipment assembly, inspection, or calibration. Each workflow consists of multiple steps with images, videos, 3D models, and safety instructions.

Purpose:

  • Define and standardize how tasks are performed.

  • Support AR-enabled visual guidance for technicians.

  • Reduce operational errors and improve training efficiency.

Example:

  • Workflow: Hydraulic Press Assembly — Step-by-Step

  • Includes steps: Align Base Plate → Fix Piston → Secure Bolts → Test Pressure.

4

Resources

Resources are the supporting files and visual assets used within workflows — such as images, videos, 3D models, tools, or safety notes.

Purpose:

  • Enrich workflows with contextual media and AR elements.

  • Store reusable resources for consistency across multiple workflows.

  • Provide reference materials directly inside the AR Genie Portal.

Resource Types:

  • Images & Videos — Instructional visuals and animations.

  • Documents — Technical specifications or manuals.

  • 3D Models — Interactive parts used in AR training.

  • Tools — Equipment required for specific steps.

  • Considerations & Warnings — Safety and quality notes.

  • Object Detection Sources — AI markers for component recognition.

5

AR Anchors

AR Anchors are spatial reference points that define real-world positions for augmented reality content. They ensure that digital 3D elements, instructions, or overlays appear accurately aligned with the physical environment when viewed through AR devices.

Anchors are typically created and configured using the AR Genie iPad App, allowing precise spatial mapping of factory floors, aircraft components, or machinery.

Purpose:

  • Fix AR visuals (like arrows, highlights, or part labels) to real-world coordinates.

  • Enable persistent, location-based AR experiences.

  • Improve accuracy during inspections, assembly, and training.

Example:

  • Anchor Name: Engine Mount Anchor

  • Description: Defines the AR reference for the turbine engine mount location.

  • Created Using: AR Genie iPad App.

  • Used In: Engine Assembly Workflow for positioning 3D turbine visualization.

6

Job

A Job is a task or work order created to execute one or more workflows for a given Asset Type or Asset. It includes details such as priority, assigned user, workflow references, and completion status.

Purpose:

  • Plan, assign, and track work orders or maintenance tasks.

  • Monitor task progress and job history.

  • Ensure accountability in production or service environments.

Example:

  • Job: Turbine Maintenance — Weekly Inspection

  • Linked Workflow: Turbine Pressure Test Procedure

  • Priority: High

  • Assigned To: Technician John D.

7

Relationship Between Components

The relationships in AR Genie Work Assist are hierarchical and interconnected:

Asset Type
 ├── Assets
 ├── Workflows
 ├── Resources
 ├── AR Anchors
 └── Jobs

Simplified Example:

Asset Type: Hydraulic Press Type ├─ Workflows: Press Assembly, Maintenance Routine ├─ Resources: 3D Models, Videos, Tools ├─ AR Anchors: Base Plate Alignment Point └─ Jobs: Monthly Maintenance Task

This structure ensures scalability — a single workflow or anchor can be reused across multiple assets of the same type.

8

Digital Twin & AR Integration

Every workflow and asset in AR Genie can be connected with AR Glasses or Mobile Devices. This brings Digital Twin visualization and real-time AR guidance into the workspace.

Benefits:

  • Visual step-by-step task execution.

  • Reduced errors and downtime.

  • Real-time validation with object detection and data capture.
